Installation Guide

Quick Install Summary

  1. Ensure waterproofing is complete + 15 mm void exists

  2. Check fall is toward waste

  3. Dry-fit Refine Flow + confirm level + alignment

  4. Glue into place (tile adhesive or MS)

  5. Tile floor flush to front face of trough

  6. Fit insert + adjust tile height to match

  7. Tile walls — ensure removal key fits

  8. Fit insert tile (cut 4 mm narrower) + adhere with MS

  9. Grout + silicone (walls only — not floor-to-steel)

Full Installation Guide

1) Preparation

Before installing the Refine Flow, ensure:

  • Shower base has adequate fall toward waste

  • There is fall directed toward the outlet

  • Waterproofing is complete + cured

  • Shower base is level side-to-side

  • A minimum 15 mm void exists to receive the trough

The Refine Flow does not create fall — substrate must be pre-sloped.

2) Dry-Fit Refine Flow

  1. Place Refine Flow into the void

  2. Confirm the outlet aligns with waste

  3. Check the trough sits level

No adhesive yet — this is a positioning check.

3) Fix Refine Flow in Place

  1. Apply tile adhesive or MS adhesive compatible with waterproofing

  2. Set Refine Flow into the void

  3. Ensure:

    • Unit is level

    • Back flange is hard against wall

    • Front flange sits flat onto shower base

Correct alignment ensures a clean tile finish.

 4) Tile the Shower Base

Tile up to the front face of the trough.

Critical rule:

Tile must finish exactly in line with the trough’s front face

  • If tile overhangs → water entry is restricted

  • If tile stops short → stainless lip is exposed + drainage is poor

Tile edge should be flush with the stainless front face.

5) Check Insert Tile Height

  1. Place tile off-cut onto the insert

  2. Ensure it sits flush with shower base tile

If not flush, Slightly pack up/down the shower base tile to match

This ensures the finished insert sits clean + level.

6) Tile the Walls

Tile walls down to the floor.

You must ensure the removal key can pass between:

  • Wall tile

  • Floor tile

If gap is too large → pack wall tile out

If too small → push wall tile back until key fits

If the key does not fit, there will not be adequate water flow clearance.

7) Prepare + Bond Insert Tile

  1. Cut Base-tile off-cut to fit insert

  2. Cut tile 4 mm narrower than total wall-to-floor gap

    • Allows ~2 mm front + back clearance

    • Allows ~3–4 mm side clearance for water + key access

  3. Dress/polish edges

  4. Bond tile to insert using MS adhesive

    • Tile adhesive won’t bond to stainless

    • Silicone is too flexible → DO NOT use silicone for bonding

  5. Align grout lines

  6. Confirm tile is flush with shower base tile

8) Grout

Grout all standard grout joints normally.

9) Silicone

- Apply silicone between wall tiles + stainless

✘ Do NOT silicone between floor tile + stainless

→ Water must flow freely into the trough

- Apply silicone between insert + insert tile

→ Stops grime + water buildup

Notes

  • Only MS adhesive should be used for insert tile bonding

  • The insert must stay removable

  • Front tile edge alignment is critical for proper drainage
